Early Days
Poli Magaña is a musician born and raised in California’s Imperial Valley. He picked up the guitar at just seven years old, developing his sound over decades while rarely performing publicly. That changed shortly before COVID, when Poli began taking the stage at venues and events throughout the Imperial Valley and Southern California, including Spotlight 29 Casino and events for the County of Riverside. Today, he is returning to live performance throughout the Coachella Valley, Riverside County, Imperial Valley, and surrounding areas.
Poli is a gritty lead guitarist with a distinctive Latin street-rock sound—raw, soulful, and driven by emotion. His playing reflects influences ranging from Carlos Santana and Gary Moore to Yngwie Malmsteen and Eddie Van Halen, blending expressive blues, Latin rock, hard rock, and flashes of metal into a style of his own.
His performances move easily between vocals and acoustic guitar and the power of an electric lead. One moment may be intimate and soulful; the next may break into a soaring guitar solo. His repertoire includes interpretations of classics associated with Staind, Creed, Pearl Jam, Mötley Crüe, Metallica, Whitesnake, and others, alongside Latin-rock and blues-inspired guitar.
What defines a Poli Magaña performance isn't simply the song selection. It's the passion in the vocals, the feel of the guitar, and an unpolished, from-the-street approach to live music. Whether performing acoustically or turning up the electric guitar, Poli brings familiar songs to life with his own sound, energy, and personality.

Music is more than sound. It is life measured in notes.
Every musician carries a story into the music they create. Every joy, heartbreak, victory, loss, love, and memory leaves its mark—much like the wrinkles that slowly appear upon a person's face. Each one came from somewhere. Each one represents a moment lived.
The notes we play are much the same.
A guitar string bends and cries because somewhere inside the musician there is something that needs to be said. A voice trembles, rises, or breaks because emotion cannot always be contained by words. Sometimes the most powerful things we have to say can only be expressed through music.
Music measures time while somehow allowing us to escape it.
A song can instantly return us to a person we loved, a summer we thought would never end, a road we once traveled, or a moment we had almost forgotten. Four minutes of music can hold forty years of memories.
And sometimes music asks nothing from us at all.
It simply allows us to release. To let go. To breathe. To be.
Across every country, every language, and every culture, people have created music. The instruments may change. The rhythms may change. The words may be unfamiliar. Yet somehow we can still feel what another human being is trying to say.
You don't have to understand the language to understand the emotion.
Perhaps that is the beautiful thing about music.
For all the things in this world that separate us, music is one of the few things we have always shared.
Different lives. Different cultures. Different stories.
But somewhere beneath it all…
we are listening to the same heartbeat.
